Matraea's Nipple Fix, 4 Ways

Matraea Soothing Nipple Fix balm provides a gentle barrier and deeply moisturizes the delicate nipple and areola (the ring-shaped area around the nipple) to protect it during breastfeeding. This easy to apply, lanolin-free balm softens and prevents cracking, soothing chafed nipples—and that’s just the beginning! This little powerhouse is a must have!

1 – Eczema

Eczema is a general term for any type of dermatitis or “itchy rash” and can be found most commonly on the face, back of the knees, wrists, hands, or feet. Eczema affects roughly 20 – 30% of babies in North America and the itchy rash can produce an oozing, crusting condition that happens mainly on the face and scalp, but patches may appear anywhere.

The combination of Calendula and the nourishing organic oils in our Nipple Fix will comfort and soothe baby’s itchy spots.

2 – Bug Bites

What makes a mosquito bite itch? In a nutshell, it’s the mosquito’s saliva left behind after biting you (actually it’s more like poking you though we may be splitting hairs). Once bitten, our immune systems takes over, responding to enzymes in the mosquito’s saliva and the body releases histamine. Histamine triggers an inflammatory response causing the skin around the mosquito bite to swell up and get itchy. Ironically, the instinct we have, which is to scratch the itch will only make it worse and most likely prolong the discomfort.

A better solution: Smear a bit of Soothing Nipple Fix over the bump and think about something else until it stops itching.

3 – Painful Heel Cracks

The dreaded heel crack. This can happen for a variety of reasons, but it mostly boils down to insufficient moisturizing.

Note: This is not always the case for diabetics. If you have diabetes and experience heel fissures regularly it may be owing to damage to nerves in the feet from uncontrolled blood sugars causing dry skin. If you are diabetic, it is important to examine your feet frequently for signs of cracks or infection as you may be more likely to develop an infection.

Some things you can do to treat heel cracks are stay hydrated and moisturize your feet regularly. Take fewer hot baths, use gentler soaps, and at night apply Soothing Nipple Fix to the crack, then protect it by covering your foot in a light cotton sock.

Fun fact: We sell a ton of Nipple Fix to men who work with their hands!

4 – Lip Balm

We hear this a lot from Matraea clients: “Nipple Fix makes an excellent lip balm!” With a rich, oil and butter base including Shea, cocoa, coconut and olive oils Nipple Fix is good enough to eat!Add organic beeswax to the blend, and this balm glides on easily, providing deep moisturizing. Once you’re done spreading the balm on your nipples, add a little to your lips! Oh, and don’t forget wrinkles…It works on those too!!!
